Bump up the friction on those meatballs!
The animation is decent, but it would be far more dynamic with sound. That aside, I gave this 1.5 stars for the animation and fairly clean composition. Simple backgrounds, enhanced effects, and a single set style will greatly improve your work. In regards to the style, an example of this would be in the final frame, the "again" selection is a typeface while everything else is hand drawn so it clashes with its surroundings.
Incredibly well written. As an animator I was particularly pleased by the section that covered the time investment involved in detailed animation. Good work!
Thank you! Yeah, animation is a big pain, I have a lot of respect for people who sit down and do it, and do it really well too.
Add sound and a background with higher contrast. Otherwise pretty cool effects.
Not bad! I love the underlying detail in the framing/skeleton. I think the run cycle needs to be refined a little bit, and the animation needs to be exaggerated. More dynamic animation! Nice secondary motion though, and cool concept... I could probably use some spray on pigment of my own.
It seemed like there was a lot of tweening in the 1st half. The effects in the second half, however, were pretty cool. I particularly liked the reconstructive animation.
There will be less when I get more time. Although there wasn't THAT much to begin with. The only tweening is in the lame effects (that will be overhauled) and the planet chamber. The zoom is all manipulated fbf, save for the initial planet.
Thanks for the review.
Wait until you have a finished product. If you need resources (i.e. voice actors) look in the forums. People will appreciate a finished, and polished production. Refine your animation and artwork as well. Sound seems on key, but there is no real story here or a decent punchline. Be patient. Work hard. Get results.
Excellent animation and execution. I thought the vignette really sold it. The narration was flawless as well, I felt as if I were truly watching a nature segment on TV. Good job.
There isn't much to say about this. The idea isn't particularly original, the presentation has no depth, and the artwork/animation is neither groundbreaking nor astounding. Anyone who has spent any time at all browsing NG has probably seen more penises then they could possibly have desired. This is just adding one more cock joke to the slew that is already out there. The artwork is obviously rushed and the animation is about as simple as it can get. The only advice I can give is to spend more time planning out your presentation. If you only plan on creating a short and low quality spoof, as it seems this was meant to be, consider whether or not you need to submit it.
Room for Improvement
I'm going to split this review up into different parts for the sake of organization.
Character: The character model was simple, but it worked for the animation. I like how the model stood out against the background by using the pink dress as a contrast to the gray scale surroundings. However the clothes and accessories were the only part that stood out. Perhaps a lighter hair color, or maybe adding a little color to the skin, just so the character stands out more.
Background: I really liked the background art. There is a very distinct feel and a very distinct style. The background was well detailed and nicely put together.
Animation: The walk cycle was ok, but there really wasn't much actual animating. The bow blowing in the wind could have been much better animated. The bow seemed to soar rather than twirl which it would do in the wind considering it is a bow not an airplane. Be creative with the path of flight rather than just making it fly in a straight path.
Sound: The foot steps were synced well, but overall the sound was very bland. The ambiance was a little overpowering, and there was little else, if anything, added to the sound track.
Overall: I didn't really understand what the message or point was of the animation. There doesn't always need to be a point but if there isn't the animation should be eccentric, colorful, and captivating.
Thank you for your review, KidneyThief
I will consider the sugestions for the next one.
